Extruded Product
The hot extrusion manufacturing process enables us to transform aluminium alloys into precise shapes to meet specific requirements (flat sections, tubular profiles, etc.).
How does it work?
Our raw material, aluminium, arrives in the form of billets, which are solid aluminium cylinders. Here are the different stages in the process
The billets are heated to around 400-500°C to make them malleable.
The heated billet is placed in an extrusion press. A piston pushes the aluminium through a die to obtain the desired shape. We can extrude lengths of up to 35m on our site.
Once extruded, the aluminium is rapidly cooled by air or water to solidify its shape.
The extruded profile is stretched to correct any deformation, eliminate internal stresses and ensure precise dimensions.
Finally, the aluminium profiles are cut to the desired length and can undergo additional treatments to improve their mechanical properties.
Although extrusion may seem simple at first glance, in reality it requires a series of sophisticated, perfectly synchronised machines, as well as specific technical know-how. ALUnited has been using this manufacturing process since 1974, to meet the demanding needs of industries such as the automotive and construction sectors, and it has always been at the heart of our business.
